'Lion King'

Moving with grace and beauty and decorated with a dazzling display of feather-like fins, the lionfish must be one of the most beautiful creations of nature. In his world he knows no fear, for each fin is actually a toxic spine, deadly to some and painful enough to others for them to know to keep their distance.

Properly known as a Volitans Lionfish, this painting is known as the 'Lion King'. He is so named for his demeanour is regal, attracting respect from all whose gaze falls upon this worthy king that rules as surely with the affable look in his eyes as with a wave of his beautiful, yet deadly fins. The inspiration behind the Lion King is the enchanting impression this majestic fish has left upon me on our many dives together.
