'Moorish Idols'

With their wispy dorsal fin gracefully flowing in the current and their striking features, the Moorish Idol must be one of the most spectacular tropical fish on the reef. They are literally one of a kind, a single species that is spread throughout the Indo-pacific and although they are often sighted alone or in pairs, on occasion they gather in great numbers to feast in deeper waters.

Normally I find the Moorish Idols to be quite shy, rarely venturing close enough for a good look at their unique traits, but this pair found along the drop off of the reef's edge seemed to have a secret to reveal. It was obvious they felt safe in my gentle approach and on the basis of trust did we share the truth of acceptance that is so evident in nature's way.
